Three Counties Gala
A GCASA Team
The Three Counties Team Gala is an annual competition between Gloucester County, Worcester County and Staffordshire. It is held in early July each year with the hosting of the gala alternating between the 3 County associations; the 2023 competition was in Wolverhampton and was an exciting trip for our swimmers - we didn't win this time, but it was a great experience, especially for the younger squad members.
Selection Criteria
Swimmers are selected based on their fastest official Long Course (50m) times recorded between 1 January and the end of Summer Nationals Meets in the competition year.
Short Course Conversions: Short Course (25m) times will be considered only if the converted Long Course equivalent time (using standard recognized conversion tables) is faster than the leading established Long Course times in that event.
Event Scheduling & Athlete Welfare: To manage fatigue and maximize overall team performance, if a swimmer ranks fastest in two consecutive events on the schedule (including relays), the County reserves the right to select the next highest-ranked swimmer for one of those events, provided their time is within a highly competitive margin (e.g., 0.5 seconds) of the top seed.
